A conversation with American artist and writer Erica Van Horn
Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 4:00 pm
Beinecke Library Mezzanine
Van Horn will discuss her development as an artist and writer, her artistic process, her influences and inspirations in a conversation with Beinecke curator, Nancy Kuhl. The conversation will refer directly to materials on view in the current exhibition.
During a career that has spanned more than thirty years, American artist, writer, and bookmaker Erica Van Horn has used saved or salvaged materials as the raw materials of her artwork, documenting her creative process and making both beauty and meaning from fragments and remainders. Making art from aspects of her daily life, Van Horn celebrates the significant but often unnoticed customs of family and friendship, the exquisite qualities of home, the work of making art.
